Dec 8th: Mat Tobin chooses Father Christmas
The Story: It’s Christmas Eve and for many of us this means going to bed positively brimming with nervous excitement about what tomorrow will bring. Have we been good this year? I hope so since there’s a new copy of Jansson’s The Moomins and the Great Flood that I am hoping to unwrap on Christmas…

When Penguin Blue flies a kite for the first time he literally gets Blown Away! But where will he land and will he find a way to get home again?
Learning with Mix It Up by Hervé Tullet
We love Hervé Tullet’s ‘Press Here‘ and ‘Mix It Up’ is a lot of fun too. It’s a great book to read but also provides an introduction to the three primary colours, the secondary colours that result from mixing them and shows how you can make colours lighter or darker.
Roald Dahl Day – Esio Trot by Roald Dahl & Quentin Blake
September 13th is Roald Dahl Day! We’ve just started reading Roald Dahl’s books, some of which I read as a child. We loved George’s Marvellous Medicine and have just enjoyed reading Esio Trot. I didn’t know this story although I knew that Esio Trot is tortoise spelled backwards.

From Head to Toe by Eric Carle
From Head to Toe is a great book to get children moving and it’s one of my favourite Eric Carle books to use in the classroom. Children love to join in with the actions and it’s an especially good book to use with non native English speaking children.
George’s Marvellous Medicine by Roald Dahl & Quentin Blake
Our daughter giggled her way through George’s Marvellous Medicine which we read in a day as we enjoyed it so much. She’s now telling anybody who will listen about what happened to Grandma when she took the medicine and insisted that we recommend the book on Story Snug.
Elmer’s Photo Patchwork App
Elmer’s Photo Patchwork App is linked to one of our favourite book characters. It’s an easy to use, fun app which encourages the user to observe and take pictures of their surroundings and stimulates discussions about colours, patterns and textures in the world around them. We have three Elmer Photo Patchwork App codes to give away in…
