Ghost Story Box: Create Your Own Spooky Tales by Ella Bailey
We love Story Box: Create Your Own Fairytales and Ghost Story Box: Create Your Own Spooky Tales is just as much fun. Making spooky (or not so spooky!) stories using the large jigsaw pieces from The Ghost Story Box would be a fun activity for a Halloween party. We spent a long time discussing which…
Monkey Puzzle by Julia Donaldson & Axel Scheffler
The discovery of a Monkey Puzzle sticker book in a bookshop led us to pull an old favourite off the bookshelf and read it again. We love this cleverly written story which intertwines humour and learning in a fun way. It was definitely one of the most well read stories when my daughter was younger and there’s…

A Book Cake For A New Baby
A friend of mine made me a beautiful diaper cake when I was pregnant. A diaper cake is mostly made up of nappies but various other baby accessories are included – dummies, bibs, washing and babycare accessories etc. We were also given two jigsaws and a Rainbow Fish CD.
Learning with Mix It Up by Hervé Tullet
We love Hervé Tullet’s ‘Press Here‘ and ‘Mix It Up’ is a lot of fun too. It’s a great book to read but also provides an introduction to the three primary colours, the secondary colours that result from mixing them and shows how you can make colours lighter or darker.
From Head to Toe by Eric Carle
From Head to Toe is a great book to get children moving and it’s one of my favourite Eric Carle books to use in the classroom. Children love to join in with the actions and it’s an especially good book to use with non native English speaking children.
