Story Box: Create Your Own Fairy Tales by Anne Laval
Are you sitting comfortably? Then let’s open Story Box and tell you a story;
Zog by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler
We love Zog! He’s a dragon who wants to do well at school but has problems when he tries to learn new skills. However, his story is great for showing that with perseverance you can become successful and good at something. The story also shows the development of his friendship with Princess Pearl, she’s not the kind of princess who wants to sit around the palace in…
Little Home Bird by Jo Empson
Moving House? Of course you want to take all your favourite things with you! But what if you are a bird flying south for the winter?
Peekaboo 123 / Peekaboo ABC by Gareth Lucas
Peekaboo 123 and Peekaboo ABC are gorgeous, sturdy, brightly coloured, lift the flap books. They are perfect presents for a new baby, introduce concepts throughout the toddler years and would make a wonderful addition to a nursery or reception classroom. Each book introduces a concept and new vocabulary in a fun way and we love Gareth Lucas’ bright, bold illustrations which…
#NationalLibrariesDay – Maisy Goes to the Library by Lucy Cousins
February 6th is National Libraries Day in the UK. Maisy was one of my daughter’s favourite characters when she was younger and in Maisy Goes to the Library she introduces small children to the concept of libraries and the activities that take place in them.
A Book Cake For A New Baby
A friend of mine made me a beautiful diaper cake when I was pregnant. A diaper cake is mostly made up of nappies but various other baby accessories are included – dummies, bibs, washing and babycare accessories etc. We were also given two jigsaws and a Rainbow Fish CD.

It’s your first day of school, you’re a bit nervous so of course you want to take a friend with you! But what if your friend is a whale?
Aaaarrgghh Spider! by Lydia Monks
Aaaarrgghh Spider! is one of our favourite, favourite picture books, our copy was so well read that it fell to pieces! Spider is such an endearing character that even for those of us you who don’t like spiders it is easy to empathise with and understand her wish to become part of a family.
An English Year / A Scottish Year by Tania McCartney & Tina Snerling
These beautifully illustrated, hardback books introduce us to a year in the life of children living in England or Scotland. The bold, bright illustrations and the easy to read text contain a wealth of information about children’s day to day activities, the food they eat and the traditions and holidays that they observe.
The Little Christmas Tree by Rachel Elliot, Vicki Gausden & Corina Fletcher
“Wow! This is cool!” were my daughter’s first words when we read The Little Christmas Tree. It’s much more than just a book, after you have read the story you can decorate the tree with stickers and make your own Christmas scene using characters from the story.
