The Story: Meet Santa’s newest helper, Olive. Olive is a dog getting ready for Christmas when she hears “Olive the other Reindeer. I thought I was a dog. Hmmm, I must be a Reindeer!” She jumps on the polar express and heads to the North Pole. While Santa and the other reindeer are a bit surprised that a dog wants to join them, in the end Olive and her unusual reindeer skills are just what Santa and his loyal reindeer team need.
Why is Olive, the Other Reindeer your favourite Christmas book?
Perhaps not your most obvious choice but in our opinion a fabulous twist on Christmassy tale. A dog who think she’s a reindeer and as absurd as it may sound, she’s just what Santa needs.
Can you describe a favourite illustration or give a favourite quote from the story and tell us why you chose it?
I loved the cover and that’s what originally enticed me to buy it so that has to be one of my favourite illustrations.
