A Book Advent Calendar for a Little Bookworm
This year we have two new friends visiting us during December and they will be creating a book Advent Calendar by choosing books for our daughter to enjoy. They’ll introduce themselves on December 1st and I hope they’ll tell my daughter what their names are because they won’t tell me!
The Jolly Christmas Postman by Janet and Allan Ahlberg
Despite the fact that more people are sending virtual Christmas cards and messages I still like to send real Christmas cards. The Jolly Christmas Postman also has lots to deliver on his snowy Christmas Eve round, the characters in the story are preparing for Christmas and some are already celebrating with sherry and mince pies.

Christmas Picture Books
If your thoughts are turning to reading or buying Christmas picture books here are some of the books that we recommended last year. We have more recommendations which we’ll publish over the next few weeks but we’d also love to hear about your favourites in the comments.

National Non Fiction Day – favourite picture books
The Federation of Children’s Book Groups celebrates National Non Fiction Day on the first Thursday in November. Not all children enjoy reading stories and there are so many amazing non fiction picture books to choose from, many can entice even the most reluctant reader!
Giraffes Can’t Dance by Giles Andreae & Guy Parker-Rees
Giraffes Can’t Dance is a wonderfully uplifting story of friendship and learning to be yourself.
Press Here by Hervé Tullet
