This year we have two new friends visiting us during December and they will be choosing books for my daughter to enjoy during Advent. They’ll introduce themselves on December 1st and I hope they’ll tell my daughter what their names are because they won’t tell me!
We’re Advent friends, we’ve come to stay.
We love to read, we love to play.
Each day we’ll choose a book for you.
It may be old! It may be new!
As well as bringing some new books the two friends will also be choosing some of our favourite books, hopefully some books that we haven’t read for a while and some Christmas books. These little friends are bilingual so some will be English books and some will be German books. We’re looking forward to seeing what books they will choose.
I think this would be a wonderful idea for an Early Year’s classroom. The two friends will be making sure that the date is changed every day so that as well as enjoying a book my daughter can also consolidate her number recognition.
I have also found some other great ideas for little bookworms during Advent. Emma at My Little Bookcase has lots of lovely ideas for Advent in her Christmas Countdown for Little Bookworms blogpost.
Jodie at Growing Book by Book has the Elf on the Shelf visiting her for Advent.
Laura has written an Advent story for her children. Every day they will hear the next part of her story.
If you have an idea for a book advent calendar I’d love you to share it in the comments.
Love all these ideas!
I looked at lots of different ideas before coming up with mine. There are some great ideas for book advent calendars 🙂
Those elves are soooo cute! Can’t wait to see your pictures.
We all know that cute can hide all sorts of mischief ;)! I am so excited about this idea, I can’t wait until Sunday!
Neat idea, they are so sweet! I still haven’t sorted out an advent calendar idea – I keep swinging indecisively between ideas – I need to sort it out fast though!
Yes, Advent has crept up on us this year. We’ll be putting out our shoes for Saint Nicholas next week too 🙂 Thank you for visiting Story Snug.
