International Book Giving Day 2014

Friday February 14th is International Book Giving Day 2014!

International Book Giving Day encourages people to give new or used books to children worldwide. Supporters are encouraged to leave books in doctor’s waiting rooms, donate to schools or give to young friends and relatives. You can read more about how you can get involved on the International Book Giving Day website.

As we did last year we have donated books to Carmen Haselup for her work with Rainbow Libraries in the south of England. A year ago she set up her first Rainbow Library and now there are four! They have been set up in nurseries and classrooms in areas where children don’t have a lot of access to books. You can read more about The Rainbow Library on Carmen Haselup’s blog.

I gave copies of Anna Hibiscus to my daughter and her best friend.

I also gave Claude in the Country to my daughter.

Story Snug is also giving a book away to a blog reader. You can choose your title from any of the books recommended on Story Snug. The book must be available to buy on The Book Depository and you need to live in a country where they deliver. Enter the giveaway here.
