My Mummy and Me - Story Snug

My Mummy and Me by Tina Macnaughton

My Mummy and Me would make a lovely present for a young child to give to Mummy for Mother’s Day. It’s a gorgeously illustrated celebration of a mother / child relationship 🙂

The Story: A little mouse tells his / her mummy how much he loves her and what s/he likes doing with her, for example, splashing and being tickled. The basic message of the story is that the little mouse is happy when s/he is with mummy.

This is a beautiful, sturdy board book with a soft, cushioned cover. Although she is now a bit old for this book my daughter loves to look at the beautiful muted colour pictures of a mother and her little mouse having fun together and still enjoys listening to the story. She thinks that the mouse is female but I love the way that no gender is specified so that the reader can come to their own conclusion.

For a toddler or younger child the short text is perfect. The story conveys a message of love and shows a happy relationship between mother and child. The relationship makes the little mouse feels good and gives him / her the confidence to do anything. It is a great book for mum and child to snuggle up and enjoy together.

Love the soft colors on the cover…seems so in keeping with the mood in the book.

Catherine, this is such a cute book. Although DD is older, we like to pick them up for self reading practice or to read at quiet times at home. Thanks for sharing!

I am finding that the early picture books with fewer words are good for beginner readers and we are going back to the simpler picture books that we used to read. It is great to revisit old favourites but also good to know that they can also support early reading skills.

We liked this book around our house. My daughter, now almost three, used to imitate all things the little mouse did which resulted in jumping around and “splashing” in the livingroom but also in lots and lots of hugs and cuddles 🙂

It is a lovely book to show a small child the special relationship that you can have with mummy. I love the idea of your daughter imitating everything – especially the hugs 🙂
